Room Touch-ups: Weekend Painting Projects
Rejuvenating your room can be a quick and easy weekend project. With the right tools and new paint, even the dullest rooms can become fresh and inviting.
Here are some fun weekend project ideas to spruce up any home:
- BOOKSHELVES – Paint the interior of your bookshelves in a bold, dramatic color to add dimension to a room and highlight collectibles.
- Designer Tip: when working in a small area try SHUR-LINE Trim Rollers and Brushes with Teflon® Surface Protector. Trim rollers are available in 3” and 4” sizes and brushes come in 1” & 1½” sizes that are perfect for small, tight areas.
- HALLWAYS – Paint the hallway in an expansive color such as pale blue to create the illusion of a bigger, more open space.
- Designer Tip: since hallways are generally narrow, it can be tricky to paint in this space without hitting the walls around you. The SHUR-LINE Twist N Reach gives painters more control and the necessary extension to reach from floor to ceiling, without risking scuff marks on the opposite wall. Twist N Reach acts as a paint roller and extension pole in one product, which is ideal for high and tight spaces.
- CABINETS – Dated bathroom cabinets and dresser drawers take on a whole new life with a fresh coat of paint. An update like this can change the look of the entire room. White creates clean lines and black adds sophistication, but also consider bright fun colors that work well in bonus and kid’s rooms.
- Designer Tip: Teflon coated paint trays and brushes offered by SHUR-LINE with Teflon® Surface Protector not only perform well, but clean up quickly. Use a SHUR-LINE 1½” square brush and paint with the grain of the wood for a professional finish.
- FURNITURE – Before resorting to tossing out your old furniture, try updating it with a bright and modern color for a bold impact in your home.
- Designer Tip: always sand and wipe furniture before painting. Use a good primer and the proper tools for satisfying success. SHUR-LINE brushes with Teflon® Surface Protector makes painting easy with good coverage and speedy clean up.
