SHUR-LINE Introduces New Line of Deck Staining Tools Designed to Provide Better Coverage and Reduce Project Time

Advanced technologies solve common deck staining frustrations

June 8, 2011 (HUNTERSVILLE, NC) – SHUR-LINE today announced the introduction of a new line of deck staining products that makes deck staining easy by creating less mess and providing better coverage than staining with a brush or roller cover.  The new product line features the SHUR-LINE Stain Pad with Groove Tool, the first pad in the industry to stain flat surfaces and in between boards at the same time and the SHUR-LINE Stain System, the first trigger-controlled dispensing system on the market.

The Stain Pad with Groove Tool’s patent-pending design features a pivoting handle that allows the user to engage the groove tool.  When the groove tool is retracted the user can also stain flat surfaces such as fences or concrete patios.  Designed with a wrapped edge, the pad prevents ripping due to rough wood and exposed screw and nail heads.  The handle is threaded to fit all standard extension poles.

“Staining between deck boards can be a tedious and time-consuming part of the deck staining process,” said Product Manager Jackie Orsini.  “Based on that insight, our engineering team has designed a pad that stains the flat surfaces and between boards at the same time.  The handle is threaded so the pad can be attached to a pole, allowing the user to stand up comfortably while staining between boards - no more bending over to stain hard-to-reach areas between boards with a brush.”

Also featured in the line is SHUR-LINE’s new fully assembled Stain System. The system features a spray trigger that allows the user to control the flow of stain, easing the common staining frustrations of pooling, splattering and dripping.  The easy-to-fill reservoir holds half a gallon of stain, eliminating the need for a tray or tray liner.  The user simply fills the reservoir and pulls the spray trigger to begin the flow of stain. The stain is dispensed uniformly into the pad for even, streak-free coverage. The pad wraps around the edges of the tool for increased durability and can be cleaned and reused for future projects. The Stain System works with many types of stain, including transparent, semi-transparent and solid stains, as well as sealants.

“Current stain systems on the market are prone to pooling and splattering,” said Orsini.  “Designed with unique trigger-controlled dispensing, the SHUR-LINE Stain System controls the flow of stain for an even, smooth finish in less time than traditional staining methods.”

The SHUR-LINE Stain Pad with Groove Tool is available at Lowe’s with a suggested retail price of $17.97.  Refill pads are available for $9.97.  The SHUR-LINE Stain System will be available at select Lowe’s stores in July 2011 with a suggested retail price of $34.97.  The SHUR-LINE deck line also includes the Tear Resistant Deck Pad for $4.85 and refill for $3.16, Project Starter Kit for $13.20, Deck Detail Kit for $3.83, and Easy Reach™ Pole for $19.85.
