SHUR-LINE Introduces Putty Knives and Scrapers with Teflon® Coating

HUNTERSVILLE, NC (June 26, 2008) – SHUR-LINE, a leading designer and manufacturer of paint application products, expands its exclusive product line with Teflon® surface protector with the introduction of the new Putty Knives and Scrapers with Teflon® coating.

“According to our consumer research, the number one complaint users have is that their blades will rust when left in a tool box or garage between uses,” said Senior Product Manager George Hartel.  “By combining a stainless steel blade with the Teflon® coating, SHUR-LINE has developed a blade that won’t rust.”

In third-party accelerated life testing, SHUR-LINE putty knives were put through rigorous salt spray testing to determine the amount of rusting within a four hour period of time.  The test chamber was operated and maintained in accordance with ASTM B 117-03.  SHUR-LINE knives consistently did not rust, while other leading brands of knives all showed signs of rusting and corrosion.

SHUR-LINE Putty Knives with Teflon® coating also release joint compounds faster for easy clean up.  When joint compound dries on other blades, it is nearly impossible to clean the blade for re-use.  The Teflon® coating on SHUR-LINE blades allows even dried joint compound to easily wipe off the blade.

The handle surface provides a non-slip comfort grip and is designed with guide rails for control and accuracy.  The knife features a metal striking cap for quick, direct repairs.  SHUR-LINE offers a full line of Putty Knives and Scrapers with Teflon® coating, in sizes ranging from 1-1/4” – 6”.
